too digital

While some digital tools can enhance learning, modern children are increasingly, disproportionately focused on digital mediums. This leads to gaps in learning in crucial areas, including socializing and also the interaction between their bodies and the physical world.

Overprotected

It is natural to protect our children.  Unfortunately, our cultural norms are becoming extreme in this regard. This prevents our children from both learning important skills derived from risk taking and also decreases their self efficacy - Our instinct to protect can prevent them from realizing their potential!

Too Structured

We all know that children thrive with structure in their lives. Unfortunately, many children today live their lives with very little time for independent, exploratory play. This type of play is crucial for social, emotional and cognitive development. Children who learn to rely soley upon external structure for their activities frequently lack the ability to create and inspire - both themselves and their peers!
